There are people in this world who just love the outdoors. They love it so much that they choose to a vehicle that allows them to feel all the elements, a motorcycle. Motorcycles have long been an iconic symbol for those who just don’t want to follow the rules. It is a symbol for those who like to take risks and take time in their own hands. Riding a motorcycle is not for everybody. Yet, those who choose to ride are insanely proud of the bikes and hang around people who have bikes just like them. As if it were a private club, you can see a gathering of motorcycle riders on the highways and roads. They do this to protect each other because even though motorcycles have been around for as long as other vehicles, motorcycles have a significant more chance of getting into an accident than other vehicles.
People who ride motorcycles are 28 times more likely to experience a fatal accident than any other vehicle. You would think that with a statistic like this people would shy away from riding, but people continue to follow their heart and passion for the motorcycle. Even though motorcyclists are expected to take courses on how to ride safely, other vehicles aren’t taking the responsibility on learning how to avoid hitting motorcycles.
Since bicycle riding has been encouraged in California to combat the amount of pollution caused by cars, a new mantra has been shared for drivers to share the road with a bicyclist. How are cars supposed to share the road with bicycles when they can’t even share with a motorcycle? It is barely the beginning of 2019 and already there was an accident between a car and a motorcycle.
Two people were injured in the crash when a 51-year old man driving a Honda CRV failed to yield to a motorcyclist who was turning at an intersection. The two vehicles collided resulting in the man getting thrown from his bike. The man in the car was not seriously injured, but the man no the bike suffered from a fractured pelvis and right arm. This small fender bender is life-threatening to a motorcyclist. Just because you choose to take more risk does not mean that you take more of the responsibility. A motorcycle accident is treated just like any other accident and no one should pressure you otherwise.
